Born in Mumbai, India and raised in Dubai, U.A.E, Sneha Jham is a young, inspired designer who will debut her first collection in Dubai in 2012. Sneha , resident of Dubai since age two , grew up watching the city of Dubai transform into the regionâs architectural marvel and fashion hub that it is today. She is greatly inspired by this transformation and the city of Dubai, a Cosmo melting pot of cultures.Sneha studied Business Administration in Dubai, following which she spent a year studying Fashion Design at Esmod University, Dubai. In order to broaden her horizons, and seek out new influences to add to her learning curve, she transferred to the University of Wales in Newport in 2009 and obtained her Bachelor of Arts Fashion Design. This experience exposed Sneha to the quirky, experimental fashion influences in European fashion. Having successfully honed her creative design skills and developed an acute sense of business, Sneha moved back to Dubai in 2011, with an intention to launch her own fashion label. Her inspirations are largely drawn from her rich Indian heritage, abstract art, contemporary design and architecture and nature.Sneha will debut her first collection and will open her first boutique in Dubai shortly.Fashion Experience:Sneha has worked extensively for the Oxfam Boutique in Wales. She was involved in merchandizing for their Spring Summer 2011 collection for the Oxfam Charity Show.Co-judged the Channel V Nokia India Fest 2012 Inter-Collegiate Fashion Show, Mumbai, India.She displayed all her collections- (âEdgeâ, âIdentityâ, âTechno Sportswearâ, âRe-loveâ) at the University of Wales Exhibition, 2011.Showcased her designs in the Annual University of Wales Newport Fashion Show, (2010)Sneha has considerable experience as a Fashion Stylist for a local music video production in the UAE. (Times Music, 2008)Showcased her collection at Fashion For All 2012, at the Westin Mina Seyahi, Dubai.She also custom designs wedding outfits and evening wear for a steadily growing client base in Dubai.Label Description:The SJ Fashion Label can be described as a blend of the classic and contemporary. This style with its emphasis on individualism and experimentation stems from Snehaâs own experiences and interactions with a diverse plethora of personalities.The strong underlying belief in Snehaâs work is the importance of the relevance of the design to the core personality of the wearer. As an artist, she believes that every design makes a connection with one kind of personality and hence mass production of outfits is a serious limitation of creative expression. Thus every piece designed by Sneha remains true to its promise of exclusivity to the buyer, like a work of art.The label has a strong influence of the glorious Indian culture, in all its forms, both classical traditional and experimental contemporary; with its quirks, prints and vibrant colors. A hint of the Orient is infused by the use of fabrics such as raw silk and brocade. She also channels the fun loving, quirky dynamism of her own personality by the use of daring combinations of fabrics, prints and colors from all over the world, such as the Indian-inspired paisley with velvet and brocade. The cuts are sharp, clean and classic and the range of designs is diverse enough to cater to every kind of taste, be it Hollywood classic, glamorous, simplistic or spunky.
