COWRIE EXPORT INC. of Connecticut USA (Cowrie) has been appointed as sole representative in West and Central Africa for Pasternak Baum of New York a grain trading, wholly owned subsidiary of MARUBENI CORPORATION of Japan. In effect Cowrie is a co-broker with Pasternak for Marubeni Corporation in the sales of the following products into West and Central Africa.PRODUCT LINES: WHEATMAIZESOY BEAN MEALSOYBEANSRICEFERTILIZERS (NPK and UREA)MILLETTALLOWSUGARSORGHUMETHANOLVEGETABLE OIL BARLEY FISHMODE OF OPERATIONS:Clients place orders directly through Cowrie or any of Cowrie agents.Client order must be precise on the specifications of products ordered in order to avoid non-conforming goods being shipped to clients. Client orders must state the quantity and time shipments are desired by clients.Client must indicate target price desired and country of origin preferred. As one of the largest grain traders in the world Marubeni can source products where cheapest and from any origin world wide with availability quality and competitive pricing being the deciding factors.Buyers must also state how goods should be packed i.e.bulk bagged or containerized.Buyers must state the discharge rates by tonnage per day at the off-loading port.Once orders are received with complete information listed above Marubeni will issue its pro-forma invoice and contract for approval by buyers.Once prices and sales contract are agreed buyer will issue a draft letter of credit based on the terms of the invoice and contract. Marubeni will then review the draft LC and when agreed the buyer will then issue its formal LC to Marubeni as beneficiary. Buyer should know that Marubeni is too big a corporate player to issue any performance bond. It will not issue a contract of sale that it cannot perform on so buyer has recourse based on the contract of sale with Marubeni. Alternatively where a buyer is still not sure Marubeni can ship to such client on a 90-day credit basis
