Bremner Music produces sshhmutes!! They are practice mutes for brass instruments and used by top professional players and students all over the world. The sshhmute was developed in a New Plymouth workshop for musical instruments repairs by award winning and internationally recognized cornetist Trevor Bremner MNZM - to satisfy a gap in the market - for a practice mute for brass musicians outplaying anything on the market. The sshhmute is designed to make the instrument play quietly without affected airflow or pitch.
The original 'sshhmute' was invented using an old suitcase and solid brass. Now in production they are made from hard wearing ABS plastic.
Mutes are available for trumpet/cornet, trombone, bass trombone, french horn, tenor horn, flugel horn, piccolo trumpet and whisper mute for trumpet.
