Blackdown Engineering Ltd. Located near Chard in Somerset in the south West of the UK, we are manufacturers and installers of high quality bespoke architectural metalwork, ie feature staircases with glass or wrought iron balustrades. Glazed balconies and Julliette guardings etc. Automated gates and access systems, and railings, traditional and modern. Bespoke conservatories, canopies, light-wells, stainless steel handrails and glass infill balustrades. Re-production and restoration of antique ironwork. Pretty much anything you can think of in metalwork, and some years ago we produced all the staging and some props used in the making of the "Chicken Run" movie by Aardman Animations. We pride ourselves on the quality of our work, and are proud to very often leave site un-snagged!We won't weld up rusty cars and avoid repairing dung spreaders etc, but anything else we'll consider. We haven't yet made a nice bridge, so if you've got one in mind please send us a copy of any plans and we'll give you a price. We have an extensive range of contacts, which allows us to incorporate a limitless variety of components and different materials into our products. We operate all over the UK, and wish to widen our net to include international travel for the right jobs. We have an eye for the right thing in the right place and can help potential clients with design details, especially when it comes to production methods for sensitive restoration projects. Unlike most of our competitors we still have a large coal fired forge and some skilled blacksmiths to drive it, which puts us at a significant advantage when a client wants authentic craft skills employed in their products, eg. a pair of gates that contain no electric welds.We would welcome ANY enquiry you may have, no matter how daft something might sound to some, it's surprising what can be acheived with some imagination and enthusiasm.
