Wari rugs are made by hand by the artisan community of Ayacucho. The natural fibers and dyes used to make the fabric as well as the threading technique are ancient cultural inheritance of the Waris.
The Wari community was originally located in the central Andes of Peru, but several families migrated to the rural outskirts of Lima during the 80s as terrorism spread through their area of the country. Today they have created an artisan community in Lurin, about an hour and a half away from Lima, were they handycraft textiles and clay pieces.

The pieces are part of their collection and they are used as tapestry and rugs. They also manufacture matching sofa cushions which are presented here also. Most of the pieces are 1.8x1.0 meters, but the size can vary if requested. Also they are made out sheep and alpaca wool and cotton.
